01The Place

An address
that goes to work.

Eleven kilometres west of Damascus old city, where the corridor's plateau falls to the south-eastern plain, the road levels off at 744 metres and the country opens. Two stone pylons stand at the entrance — limestone, brass medallion, olive trees flanking. The English-language plaque reads OLIVE GROVE LIVING DISTRICT; below it, in Arabic: منطقة بساتين الزيتون السكنية.

This is the working address. Not heritage, not signature, not flagship — but the place that holds the corridor's daily life: offices that fill at nine, retail arcades that open at ten, schools that empty at three, civic-plaza cafés that hum at six. Mid-rise stone fabric on a generous rectilinear grid; every block within four minutes of a BRT stop, every doorstep within two minutes of an olive grove.

The site is the corridor's lowest at 744 metres — the warm end, the practical end, the end that does the work. It is also the largest community by dwelling count after the Bawaba gateway: 4,260 households, sized to absorb the corridor's middle-income workforce.

02The Vision

The address
where the corridor
actually lives.

Olive Grove is the corridor's largest mixed-use working community. Where Durra sells the signature, where Dimashq holds the cultural heart, where Bawaba marks the gate — Olive Grove is the place that absorbs the corridor's working population at scale. Seventy-two thousand square metres of office GFA, four thousand two hundred and sixty dwellings, an eighty-shop retail arcade, a 4,800-square-metre library, a wellness clinic, a community hall, a family services centre, a 6-hectare central park bounded on every edge by olive groves.

The fabric is denser than Bawaba, more public than Durra, more programmatic than Dimashq. Mid-rise four-to-six-storey blocks with active ground floors. Courtyard apartments to the south where the park edges; mixed-use stacks along the boulevard; townhouses in the inner cells. Every block has a court; every court has olives; every olive grove gives onto a bioswale corridor that doubles as the district's stormwater system.

The plaque at the gate doesn't say "premium residential". It says "Living District" — and that is the position: the corridor's most-lived-in address.

03The Plan

A rectilinear grid.
Six use-types. One district.

Olive Grove is the corridor's most rectilinear masterplan — orthogonal blocks, generous gridded streets, every parcel addressable by simple x/y. Six use-types lock into a single 138-hectare grid: residential, office, retail, civic + cultural, parks + groves, mobility + infrastructure.

05A Day in the District

BRT at 08:10.
Library at noon.
Café at six.

The working day in Olive Grove is paced by the BRT, the library, and the central park. A child walks to school, a parent commutes from the park-and-ride, a grandparent reads on the library terrace. The fabric carries all three rhythms simultaneously.

08:10 · Morning

The BRT.

The park-and-ride hub fills before the eight-o'clock commute. Cars come from the agricultural belt and the eastern villages; bikes come in from the courtyard cells; pedestrians come from every direction. Eight minutes of waiting time at peak — by design, never more. Coffee from the boulevard kiosk, breakfast from the bakery arcade, into the BRT spine.

Midday at the library terrace — community library with olive shade
12:30 · Midday

The library.

The 4,800-square-metre library is the district's daytime room. Open shelving on the ground floor, study terraces on the upper levels, a quiet courtyard with olive shade. Twenty thousand books in Arabic, English, and Russian; subscriptions to the corridor's research consortium; community workshops on Saturdays. The reading terrace catches the cross-wind from the central park.

Evening on the retail strip — café terrace lit, families dining
18:30 · Evening

The café strip.

The retail arcade reopens after maghrib. Twenty-two café terraces along four hundred and eighty metres of boulevard; the bakery for the second wave; the daily-needs grocer for the household run. The community hall hosts the seven-thirty programme. At nine the lanterns hand the district back to the courtyard residents.
