01The Place

An old city,
made new.

Eighteen kilometres west of Damascus, on a south-facing ridge between the As-Salboura plateau and the Yafour valley, the corridor narrows and the country turns. The hills draw closer, the olive groves thicken, and the road rises into a quarter that reads, at first glance, like the old city itself — limestone arcades, brass-mounted nameplates, mashrabiya screens, fountain courts. KETURAH SYRIA, the stone column at the threshold reads, in Latin script and in كيتورا سوريا.

This is the heart. Dimashq — دمشق — the city. Not a replica of old Damascus, but its grammar carried forward: courtyards, colonnades, water in shade, walls that hold a day. A working old city for the twenty-first century.

The site sits at 941 metres, on the ridge between Sabboura (929 m) and Maqam (950 m). Walking distance to both. Two kilometres to the BRT spine. Eighteen to Damascus.

02The Vision

The quarter
that remembers
how to live.

Dimashq is the only community on the corridor designed around the old city as a working idea — not a museum, not a stage set, but a place where the daily rhythm follows the courtyard, the souk, the fountain, and the call to prayer. A KETURAH SYRIA flagship — flagship retail, flagship pharmacy, flagship café — anchors a 420-metre souk colonnade running north–south, with civic and cultural anchors at the cross-axis.

The fabric is denser than Sabboura, more public than Maqam, more urban than Bustan. Courtyard houses to the east, perimeter blocks along the souk, civic anchors at the heart — and a wellness garden corridor on the western edge, opening onto the agricultural belt. Every household is within four minutes of a souk shop, eight minutes of the civic plaza, twelve minutes of the wellness garden.

The brand on the column doesn't say "heritage residential". It says "حياة سورية كبرى" — Bigger Life · Syria. Bigger by the way the day is lived, not by the size of the wall around it.

A souk-spine, a civic cross.
Seven use-types. One footprint.

Dimashq is the most public-realm-heavy of the five quarters — 24% parks, gardens, plaza, and water. Seven use-types are visible on the 3D satellite overlay: courtyard residential, perimeter block, souk + retail, civic + cultural, wellness garden, mobility, and the urban hammam.

05A Day in the Quarter

Bread at 06:40.
Plaza at noon.
Hammam at dusk.

The old-city rhythm is plural — the morning baker, the midday plaza, the evening hammam, the night-time tea house. Dimashq carries the cycle in its fabric, not its events calendar.

Morning at the souk pharmacy and daily-needs row
06:40 · Morning

The souk.

The colonnade opens before the call to fajr is finished. The bakery is first. The pharmacy follows. By seven, the daily-needs row is alive: bread, milk, herbs, the corridor's coffee. KETURAH SYRIA Pharmacy at the cross-axis serves the quarter and the corridor — the only twenty-four-hour clinical pharmacy west of Damascus.

Midday on the civic plaza — stone paving, olive trees, KETURAH SYRIA flagship
12:40 · Midday

The plaza.

The civic plaza sits at the cross-axis of souk and civic spine — three hectares of stone paving, six fountain courts, olive trees on a sixteen-metre rhythm. The KETURAH SYRIA flagship building marks the southwest corner. Lunch is taken outdoors three seasons of the year; the arcades carry August at high noon.

Sunset on the souk street — the city switching on
18:20 · Evening

The switch on.

At sundown the souk reopens. The tea houses are first — the corridor's only properly-grown mint, in glass tumblers, on the pavement. The hammam takes its evening cohort. The recital hall fills for the seven-thirty programme. Children play in the fountain courts until the call to maghrib. The quarter walks itself home.
